True Blood: The Soda with Fangs!

With the news this week that True Blood has been been renewed for a sixth season, here in the UK we’re still anxiously awaiting the official première of season five, set to hit our British screens on FX this autumn.

It seems that FX have brokered a deal with True Blood’s American producers to get it here much faster than previous seasons, and for this I’m sure we are all thankful.

For some though (cough*Cybercandy*cough), it simply isn’t soon enough! So, we’ve done what we had to do – long story, don’t ask – to get our hands on a truck load of genuine Tru Blood, in real glass bottles, straight from the heart of Bon Temps, Louisiana.

It’s not actual blood. We’re pretty sure that draining a human into bottles might get us arrested… and nor is it quite the same mix of O-Positive Japanese synthesised blood, preferred by Vampire Bill. It is however, a carbonated blood-orange flavoured soda of deliciousness, sweetened with cane sugar for that sugary tang and packed with vitamin B3 and B12 to help you keep up your strength during those long nights. It even has a little poke of caffeine in there too Perfect for vampires who want to protect their human friends from the fang!

The bottle itself is a collectors item that any True Blood fan will want to get their hands on. Crafted to be an exact replica of the bottles that Sam keeps behind the bar in Merlotte’s, it even has its own blood type printed on the label.

If, like me, your patience just won’t stomach another minute without a True Blood fix, then here’s a sneak preview of what we have in store when season five hits out screens in the UK this autumn:

Tru Blood is now available to purchase online, or from one of our Cybercandy stores in London, Brighton and Birmingham. Because the delivery only hit our warehouse last week, it may not arrive the store near you until later this week, so it might be wise to contact the store ahead of making a special trip.

Tru Blood: All flavour. No bite.

I may be talking a lot about soda just recently, but that’s because we’re all so super-excited about the massive range that’s just landed across our six stores, and of course on our special new website. Today though, it’s time to introduce a soda that’s been a long time coming! Oh, yes! A vamptastic soda straight from the heart of Bon Temps, Louisiana. Drum roll please! Tru Blood.

I’ll say it again, just because it sounds so cool.

There. Not quite out of my system yet, but that’s helped a lot.

Obviously, it’s not actual blood as I’m pretty sure that’s not an acceptable thing to do around these parts. It’s also not really the Japanese-engineered synthesised blood that features in the show either, although there’s no harm in pretending, right? Tru Blood is a carbonated blood-orange flavoured soda of deliciousness, sweetened with cane sugar for that sugary tang, and packed with vitamin B3 and B12 as a natural invigorator. It’s got a little poke of caffeine in there too for that extra lift.

The bottle is crafted to be an exact replica of Vampire Bill’s favourite tipple, even down the blood type printed on the labelling. What’s more, we’re selling the red delicious in both glass and plastic versions. There’s a 4-pack available too, in a branded carry pack so you can stock up on your O-Positive and drink ’til your heart’s content. Unlike the Tru Blood featured in the show though, I’m pretty sure you’re not supposed to heat them up and drink them warm, in fact they are much better poured over ice. However, if you’re feeling extra vamped up, why not try a unique cocktail of something a little stronger, with a Tru Blood base:

Death on the Beach: Tru Blood, peach schnapps, pineapple juice, vodka
Plasmapolitan: Tru Blood, Citron, Cointreau, fresh lime juice
